As a job seeker, active networking can be crucial to finding a job. Why is networking so important? It allows the job seeker to be available and to expand relationships in terms of job hunting.

Networking doesn’t require much skill or talent, just a desire to grow and expand. Everything on our list can quickly help introduce you to new opportunities, introductions and more!

Here are several easy ways to increase your network starting today:

-          Sign up for free professional networking sites, such as LinkedIn. Join industry-related groups or groups of potential employers you’d like to work for and become an active, contributing member on their pages.

-          Prepare an elevator pitch. In 30 seconds you need to be able to describe who you are and which problems you can solve. Practice every day until it comes naturally.

-          Ask your network connections to connect you to another person in their own network. When you start doing this, you may find yourself tapping into a potential network of hundreds.

-          Send an e-mail to an old contact. Taking a few moments to send over a message will you help maintain your relationship, which can be helpful later on down the line.
